This looks like a fantastic proposal. A consortium of research institutions including RIC, Northwestern, UT Dallas and Carnegie Mellon proposes to develop and open source leg platform for researchers to test control strategies. They suggest that complete information including bill of materials, CAD files and assembly instructions will be provided once the project is funded. I hope that they go all the way and include manufacture at cost from any third party with existing as well.
This project will have five stars from me once they have actually shared anything. I have to ask, why not now? This is very cool, and I'm sure that a lot of people would love to help. Why not get started right away?
Unless I'm mistaken, it certainly appears as if they have a design, and even some of the instructional material prepared already.
I'd like to volunteer to help with the mechanics of sharing and hosting any of this information immediately, if that's any part of the reason for delaying release.
